As it has probably been obviously apparent, I haven’t done any writing. I had time to (on occasion) over the last week and just haven’t taken advantage of it. The holidays are always a hard time to figure out, but as long as I can keep myself out of too much trouble and keep getting up and writing in the mornings, then I’ll be okay.
I think I mentioned in my previous post that I’ve hit a writer’s block with my original story (the Vikings one). So, while my brain stews and creates things subconsciously, I’m going to work on a couple of other things. One is a story (okay, fanfiction) about Tales of Symphonia, which is basically one of two video games that I’ve ever really gotten into. I’m on the third evolution of this story and it has been around for probably 10 years now. My little sister still likes to remind me of it from time to time, so I figured I should actually work on the latest version and finish it at some point.
Something else that I could go ahead and do is start typing up my post-apocalyptic story on the computer. I finished what I think will be the first part of three arcs in the story and stopped. I’m hoping once I start typing and editing that, it’ll kick the creative juices into overdrive and I’ll get some motivation for the next part. We’ll see what happens!
Fun fact: I counted up all the words from the NaNo posts I’ve done this month and it comes out to about 3,000 words. That helps reinforce the thinking of “just a little bit every day adds up” that I have to continually convince myself of.
Now that NaNoWriMo is about over, we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled programming of book reviews and lamenting about writing and trying different alcohols. I’m not even sure where to start! Maybe I’ll do a post on Christmas and New Year’s themed cocktails that would be fun to make. Time to research!
